First Privately operated train on Indian Railways Network "Tejas Express"

82501 - 82502 Lucknow - New Delhi Tejas Express is India's first privately operated train. This particular train is now being operated by Indian Railways subsidiary, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

  Ticketing fare of this train is fixed at half the fare of air travel. Tickets are available on IRCTC's official website only. Tickets of this particular train is not available on PRS counters. Doors of this train open and closes automatically as it reaches the station's platform. Onboard staff employed by IRCTC check tickets, serve meal and do other stuff. The train starts from Lucknow Junction terminates at New Delhi. During the journey, it stops at Kanpur Central Junction and Ghaziabad Junction. It is hauled by Ghziabad's WAP 7, 'Varun'. The train runs all days of week except for Tuesday. It is having Executive AC class accomodation and AC chair car coaches.

As 82501, it departs at 06:10 in morning from Lucknow Junction and reaches Kanpur Central at 07:20. After staying there for 5 minutes it departs at 07:25. It reaches Ghaziabad Junction at 11:45 and departs after 2 minutes at 11:47. And the train terminates at New Delhi railway station at 12:25.

In reverse direction, as 82502, it departs at 15:35 from New Delhi and reaches Ghaziabad Junction at 16:09. After staying there for 2 minutes it departs at 16:11. It reaches Kanpur Central Junction at 20:35 and departs after 5 minutes at 20:40. And the train terminates at Lucknow Junction railway station at 22:05.
