First Privately operated train on Indian Railways Network "Tejas Express"

82501 - 82502 Lucknow - New Delhi Tejas Express is India's first privately operated train. This particular train is now being operated by Indian Railways subsidiary, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Lucknow New Delhi Tejas Express arriving at Ghaziabad Junction Ticketing fare of this train is fixed at half the fare of air travel. Tickets are available on IRCTC's official website only. Tickets of this particular train is not available on PRS counters. Doors of this train open and closes automatically as it reaches the station's platform. Onboard staff employed by IRCTC check tickets, serve meal and do other stuff. The train starts from Lucknow Junction terminates at New Delhi. India's First Engine-Less Train, 'Train 18' or 'Vande Bharat Express'

It is India's first engine-less train, developed by the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. The project took just about 18 months. The trainset is said to cost about ₹ 100 crore/rake, nearly half that of an imported rake. It will cover a distance of over 750 kms between New Delhi and Varanasi in 8 hours, which otherwise takes 11 hours. New Delhi Varanasi Vande Bharat Express The train will run at 160 kmph, but is capable of touching speeds of up to 180-200 kmph. Vande Bharat Express is a 16-coach air-conditioned train with two classes of tickets -- Executive and Chair Car. The train is equipped with top notch facilities, such as automatic doors with retractable footsteps, Wi-Fi availabilty and CCTV cameras. It also has GPS-based passenger information system, modular toilets with bio-vacuum systems, rotational seats that can be aligned in the direction of travel.
